The PFA Library’s phone reference service is available Monday through Wednesday from 1 to 5 p.m. by calling (510) 642-1437. This service responds to brief inquiries from researchers not able to use the library in person, answering questions about film and video distribution sources, film availability, credits, biographies, and other information. This service handles inquiries that can be researched in approximately 20 minutes or less; those needing assistance with more extensive research should visit the library in person or use PFA’s Film Consultation Service.

Film Consultation Service
In-depth film research is available for matters requiring more than 20 minutes of research, such as compiling detailed filmographies or creating lists of sources for stock historical footage on a particular subject. Consultation services are billed at $50 per hour for BAM/PFA members and $100 per hour for non-members.
