BAM/PFA Explorers’ Circle Membership is designed to deepen the art experience in the company of fellow art and film lovers. Whether you’re looking for a more in-depth experience with art, are excited about the intersection of art and technology, or you’re passionate about films and filmmaking, Explorers’ programs give you exclusive access to what’s happening at the museum, in the Bay Area, and beyond. Explorers’ experiences are focused on the pinnacles of the museum’s programs and collection—American and international art, classical Asian art, digital media, film, challenging work by today’s artists, and dynamic collections and programs in the Bay Area.



Collectors’ Circle: $2,500–$4,999 (all but $150 of your gift is tax-deductible)

This is a unique opportunity. Working closely with BAM/PFA Director Lawrence Rinder, Chief Curator Lucinda Barnes, and MATRIX Curator Elizabeth Thomas, Collectors help to shape the BAM/PFA collection by selecting art to be purchased using a portion of the museum’s acquisitions budget. If you’re a Collectors’ Circle member, you are energized by looking at art and enjoy talking with artists about their work. During three curator-led meetings, which include studio visits, you’ll make careful study of three Bay Area artists, culminating in a vote to decide which of their works to purchase for the collection.
