| A Family Story 1984 | |
A comedy set in Los Angeles, where the filmmaker arrives with producer Marilyn Watelet and son in tow. Calling on Akerman's uncle, they are met by a woman (Colleen Camp) whom Akerman takes to be her uncle's girlfriend; Akerman, in turn, is taken for the translator hired to coach French actress Aurore Clement (Meetings of Anna) in English. Clement's English only gets worse, however, as the family story becomes increasingly absurd.
• Written and Directed by Chantal Akerman. Produced by John Westmoreland and Lloyd Cohen. Photographed by Luc Benhamou. With Chantal Akerman, Aurore Clement, Colleen Camp, Marilyn and Leslie Watelet, Lloyd Cohen. (1984, 20 mins, Color, Print from World Artists Releasing)
