(Le ballon rouge). This nearly wordless poetic fantasy tells of a young boy’s friendship with a red balloon that seems to have a mischievous mind of its own. Their adventures through the streets of Paris are shot in breathtaking color, all the more vivid in this new print.
The Flight of the Red Balloon, Hou Hsiao-Hsien’s film inspired by The Red Balloon, screens in the Asian American Film Festival on Saturday, March 22.
