Dave Fleischer (U.S., 1930–36)

Archival Prints

Boop-oop-a-doop! Our program celebrates the Fleischer studios, the company that gave us the animated versions of Superman and Popeye along with the beloved Betty Boop. Here Betty—memorably voiced by Mae Questel—does the hula, plays Cinderella, and meets Cab Calloway. We finish with one of Fleischer’s Sing-a-Long films: to join in the fun, just follow the bouncing ball!

Any Rags (1932, 6 mins). Grampy’s Indoor Outing (1936, 6 mins). Poor Cinderella (1934, 11 mins). Snow White (1933, 7 mins). Popeye the Sailor (1933, 7 mins, From Library of Congress). Boop-Oop-a-Doop (1932, 9 mins). Admission Free (1932, 7 mins). Let Me Call You Sweetheart (1932, 9 mins).
