Fumpon Sale Friday Night Only at L@TE!
What the heck are fumpon? They’re ink sketches by 18th- and 19th-century Japanese artists used to work out a composition, jot down impressions of people’s expressions, or as “model books” (the literal translation of “fumpon”). The BAM/PFA fumpon were bought in Japan in the 1960s and 1970s and were sold at annual fumpon sales here in the 1970s and early '80s. BAM/PFA is selling the last few dozen fumpon—the final bits and pieces of a legacy—Friday, November 20, from 5 to 9 p.m. at our ’Zine Mart. Prices range from $8 to $50.
$5 After 5
General admission to the BAM galleries is just $5 after 5 p.m. Show your ticket for a same-day PFA screening or gallery visit and get in free. Admission is always free for BAM/PFA members and UC Berkeley students, faculty, and staff.
About L@TE
Start your weekend in the BAM galleries! The galleries are open until 9 p.m. or later on most Fridays, with DJs and wine and beer from 5 to 7 p.m. in the lobby and an array of performances and other programs in Gallery B. Sarah Cahill programs new music on the first Friday of each month. Beginning January 29, BAM/PFA presents an additional series of L@TE events: Franklin Melendez taps into the East Bay’s D.I.Y. culture on the second Friday of each month; Anne Colvin creates hybrid experiences drawn from literature, music, and film on the third Friday; and on the last Friday of each month, our PFA curators take over.
L@TE is made possible in part by the Tin Man Fund and by the generous support of the BAM/PFA Trustees.
