Professor Whitney Davis joined the faculty of the UC Berkeley Department of History of Art in 2001.
He received his PhD at Harvard University and was previously on the faculty of Northwestern
University, where he became John Evans Professor of Art History and Director of the Kaplan Center
for the Humanities. He has served as Chair of the Department of History of Art and Director of the
Film Studies Program, and is an active member of the Center for New Media. He teaches courses
in art-historical methodology and theory in relation to philosophy and cultural criticism; archaic and
anthropological art; aspects of modern and contemporary art history; and the history and theory of
sexuality. He is the author of five books on ancient, modern, and contemporary art and art theory.

Michele Rabkin became the Consortium's first Associate Director in 1999. Previously, she was the
Film and Video Program Coordinator at UC Berkeley Extension. She received her MFA in Visual Arts
from UC San Diego.

Laura Paulini joined the Consortium in May of 2007. She is a painter who received her MFA from
